I hope someone could help me.I have an 1973 65hp johnson outboard and when I try to troll I put it in gear and rpm cuts down and quits. But in neutral it revs good .When I give it more trottle it runs fine, but to fast.I had a marine tech tell me to up my jets in size.Does this make any sense? Also I don't see a teltail on the motor.but it doesn't over heat.Is there a buzzer to tell on this motor? Any help would be great.

lets check compression and spark, (fire), make sure the n gine is in good shape still, also check you cable adjustments, where is the engine from originally, jetting of the carb might not be a bad idea especially if the engien was a equator motor, it could be an altitude thing, but very rare to hear about that

get a shop manual also, it covers step by step info

The tech did a compression test and spark test and said bolth were very good.He took the top carb apart and said it was clean.
