Ok here's the deal. have a 75hp johnson model v4al-17, was off my grandfathers boat and has been in my garage for a long time. ran good when it came off the boat, it's last stop was at a repair shop to check compression and such before i stored it. problem is this I can't remember any thing about it (it's hell getting old). I hung it on a boat, hooked up the battery cables and gas line turned the key and got nothing, squat zero. no clicks nothing. am i missing something? if not how do i trouble shoot, I'm not even sure its in neutral. so some general info would be great. thanks...,mike

Read the "awakening a sleeping outboard" thread and for heaven's sake don't try to spin it dry if you actually do get the starter to crank!

I was referring to cranking the cylinders dry, not the waterpump (although that's obviously a smart step too). Get some TCWIII oil, or WD40, or *something* in the cylinders if you're going to be cranking it.
