My friend has a 65 hp Merc 1970 that has been sitting on his pontoon for 2 years without running we checked the compression by turning it over with the key and the top cylinder shows 125 number 2 shows 115 number 3 shows 75 and the bottom number 4 shows 55, could it be from sitting and not being started in 2 years, he claims it ran fine when he put it in storage. We have not tried to start it yet but it turns over well.

Re: 65hp Merc compression

I would get it running and get it hot then do a good decarb. I would also get some sea froam and run that tough it. Then recheck I think you will be supprised what you can get out of it.
