On a 1974 Merc, 65hp, the tach lead is brown, in the control box. What are the black and white wires for? I am assuming that one of them is a hot wire for when the the key is on, and I think it is the white wire because it also goes to the choke. So, what is the black wire for? It comes off the key switch and goes to the tach lead.
