Re: 65hp wiring

Red band engines used both battery and driver CD so we need to know how many terminals on the switch box, to tell which it is.

Re: 65hp wiring

Peter you asked your question in the forum which is the proper place. Follow the 3 wires from the dist. to the switch box. it will have either 3 wire terminals on one side and 4 on the other or just 4 on 1 side and a ground wire to the coil

Re: 65hp wiring

Thanks for the help, looks like i have a lot of work to do on the wiring before i can run motor,i need to make a stand for engine ,any ideas. I asked a merc marine mechanic about the outboard ,he said they are a real fuel guzzler and parts are hard to get and would not make a reliable out board. He had done his apprenticeship on the old mercs and had thrown out the old workshop manuals plus a lot of old motors and parts.Do you know of any faults to look for and thanks again.

The certianly are not a fuel efficient as today's engines, but the fellow you talked to is not much of a mechanic, he sounds more like a TECH.
