"66" 3 hp with a "68" carb??

Hello all.<br /> Ive got a 1966 johnson that with work starts right up 1-2 pulls. but i cant shut choke down or motor immediatly dies. went to get a carb kit and the folks at the boat store seem to thing the carb is from 1968. just because of the gasket on the bowl. will this combo ever work ? here are the #s on the bottom of carb bowl .10771 and a big 2 . thanx for any help.<br />Scott

Hi Scott,<br /> Get yourself carb kit #18-7020 from NAPA. It should have what you need. There's not a whole lot of difference between the two...<br />- Scott
