My engine has sat for 2 years. I drained the carb bowl, flushed the bowl with new fuel, cleaned the plugs, and can get the engine to run if I spray fuel into the carb throat. However, it doesnt seem to be getting fuel into the cylinders via the carb. What should I do, short of removing the carb adn cleaning the thing out?

When you squeeze the priming bulb, can you hear it sending fuel into the carb? Does it go firm after you squeeze it a few times?

Sounds like you may have a stuck needle/seat on your float.

well, yes I feel the bulb get hard after a few squeezes. I disconnected the fuel line from the pump and put the end into a bottle and squeezed the bulb, and it flowed well into the bottle. I disconnected the line from the other side of the pump and got fuel from there also. I removed teh drain screw from teh bowl of the card and got fresh fuel there.

I feel like the carb will need to be removed and at least cleaned and new seals etc. in it...

Thanks guys!!!

OK, guys...I had soime carb cleaner and I stuck the spray tube into the nozzle coming up into the carb throat from the bowl, sprayed till I saw it coming fromt eh bowl drain screw I had removed, then I sprayed it into the bowl and saw it shoot up into the carb...I then reassembled everything, repressurized the tank bulb, spun the engine and it fired up on the first few turns...and kept running...and GREAT!!!!! So, it seems that I am going to take it out for a test run in a few days...got to run a new set of wires to the auxiliary lighting system as the wires are hard and cracking up. I also checked out the electric shift and it seems to work fine also.

Wish me luck!!!

Thank you all again for your unselfish help to this newbie!!!

Spratt....do listen to rodbolts suggestion. You may get stuck on the water. You may have cleared the tube but whats' left in the bowl??? Overhaulin' a carb ain't hard and only takes an hour or so. I sure would consider it.....

I probably will. I will be looking at the kits over the next day or two and get one on payday (Wednesday)...I may have to ask for some advice on the rebuild, but I have done cars many times, so it can't be impossible for a newbie even:)

Thanks everyone!!
