66 650 shifting backward?

Now that the motor is running like it should, I took the time to look at the prop turning in Forward and in Reverse. From the back, in Forward, the prop is turning counterclockwise. And in Reverse, the prop turns clockwise. It looks to me like the prop is trying to pull water towards the boat in Forward, and push it away from the boat in Reverse. And yes, I did have the lower unit off for a reseal job. I also had a bit of trouble getting the prop to spin in opposite directions from Forward to Reverse when I first reinstalled the lower unit. So what do I need to do to set this right?

Sounds like the shifter in the lower end is backwards. When I removed the gearcase off my 1100SS people told me to shift into reverse before I took it off so I knew what direction was what when I reassembled. Here's a pic of my '66 1100SS (110hp) in reverse.

Captn---

Ok, the reverse lock cam on mine clocks differently than yours, but it gave me a starting point. Got it fixed now. Thanks :)
