66/67 merc 950 timing????

I need a "how to" set the timing on an old merc 950 66/67. It has two coils and two sets of points and two electrodes on the rotor. The distributor cap is not the original one for that motor and the problem I'm having most is putting the sparkplug wires in there proper place in relation to the #1 cap position and rotor position. I have a manual but it doesn't give enough info about the cap and sparkplug wires. Any help would be very much appreciated....Thanks
