Hi! I'm new to this forum, my name is David. I just purchased a 1966 Aristocraft badly in need of restoration. I believe it to be all original with Mercruiser 120 I/O and power tilt. The hull, though dirty and faded, is in seemingly great shape though the engine doesn't run. Every seat in the craft once upholstered in a color matching, tasteful two-tone is shot. Both side windows need replaced. Windshield will be perfect after micro-mesh. Any suggestions, comments or tips would greatly be appreciated as I begin this restorative journey on this beautiful classic boat. I will post pics soon. DK

Welcome to iboats Dry Dock,

Biggest tip is to concentrate on the power....get the Merc and outdrive going first as this can be costly somtimes.

Aristocraft built (and still builds!) some great looking boats... Probably well worth restoring. Let's see some pics!

Sounds like a great project. We have another member here, ziggy, that has a mint 19. Very cool boat.

The first step toward success often is asking for help. I'm having a hard time uploading my boat photos. I have uploaded them from my phone to Picasa... Every time I select the picture icon, the smiley icon is highlighted; though that isn't what I want. Any help here?

Most of us use the Free Photobucket account. Real easy to use. Just upload your pics, Hover over the pic, window appears with the links, click on the IMG tag and it will say Copied then return to iBoats and paste it where you want it. Couldn't be more simple.

The photobucket account is a great thing. The account is free all you have to do is copy and paste the IMG tag.
I'd like to see some pics of this project.

I like the color but think that I'm going to love the color once the oxidation haze is gone. I don't have any history on the boat, but the effects of neglect are glaring. I've just learned that the supplier of ultra cheap upholstery materials for both professional upholsterers and diy's alike, Perfect Fit McDonald, is going out of business (at least in Portland) soon. Now the pressure is on to buy the materials before doing anything else.
