Hello all, newbe here. I have a 1966 Chrysler 9.2hp motor that only fires on the bottom cylinder. I reset and cleaned the points still the same. What should I do next? How would I check the coils to see if they are working? The other cylinder has a spark but it is orange should it be more bluish in color? It don't seem very strong to me. Any help please.

I got spark and I got the motor to sputter a little so I know there is life. I need a fuel pump I took it off and it is hard and dry. Where can I get one from? Would it be the same as a 9.9? It's hard to find parts for this motor.

i just procured one myself (been sitting for over 2yrs) and i was reading (all bets off) that you could go to a mercury outboard dealership and get parts, i may have to get some soon too, i had someone pull the rope while i was holding the spark plugs and i felt nothing :-(

you could also ebay parts

also found this

Pinky_IM, we broke the rule by jumping hoagie?s post vs you posting and me replying separately (A reminder to avoid confusion).

1. Inspected the Mag sys for any obvious bad insulation, corrosion, rust, grime, excessive oil and etc.

2. Check the points, clean them lightly regardless and check for continuity with point's contacts closed.

3. Not getting a good bite from the plug wire is saying something that could be simple. You Were Protected! LOL

4. Check the compression while you have the plug out. Turn slow by hand 1st to check clearance. A quick test w/o a gauge is your thumb s/n be able to hole the comp in cyl.

5. If all looks/checks good, you might want to prime it and let it fire vs running until all is good. jow
