Im trying to hook up a after market push button start switch and solenoid. The oringinal harness thats goint through the housing is rotten so I want to hardwire everything....I savvy the switch and solenoid bit but what do I do with the two wires coming from the stator one is a kill wire and what is the other...and which is which? they are both black. Thanks
edit...do they just ground together to kill it?

Re: 67 20 HP wiring question

The 1967 20hp does not have a stator. Each of those two black wires connect to the ignition points. If you're using a ignition switch that has two "M" terminals... one black wire attaches to one of those "M" terminals, the other black wire attaches to the remaining "M" terminal.

When the black wires are NOT touching = ignition/spark is engaged.

When the black wires ARE touching = ignition is shorted out.
