I have a 1967 Johnson Super Seahorse 33hp that was used on a boat with a steering wheel. The model number is RXEL-15. I rescently bought an aluminum boat and want to convert the Johnson motor to a arm control or a tiller control. I need to know what motors are interchangeable, and if anyone might have one on an old parts engine they might sell. I also need the electric control box and gas tank. Any help is appreciated. Hi Cien
Just about any tiller assembly from any big twin of the sixties era will fit. Probably the best way to get the parts you need is to scrounge up some old junker. There is no shortage of them. It is usually less expencive to do your own scrounging and more fun too. Think of it as a social outing.

I prefer the stuff behind the shed. The stuff in the shed is usually still too valuable. Junk is like gold, It is where you find it. Just start looking, pretty soon it will start finding you. It's kind of funny, when I'm out and about, I like to keep a mental inventory of other peoples junk piles. That way I sort of know where to go. That way I don't have to drag stuff home until I need it.

Cien

You can also try looking on Ebay. Those pop up once in awhile. just do a search for tiller. If you have trouble locating a good junction box and wiring I have a junction box set up without the wire to dash and key and choke button mounted on the box. This is good for mounting to a transom so it is close by. It has been blasted and repainted. Also any bad wires have been replaced and it has a new solenoid and switches. If you can't find one just e-mail me at:

bhalsdorf@mecanex.com
