Playing around with an "inherited" '68 20hp Johnson.
Drained lube from lower unit. It didn't have but a coupla oz. in it and it was "tan-milky" (?). I guess I wasn't so surprised at the consistancy of the fluid as I was that it had so very little it had in it. If the water was leaking into it, I guess I would have assumed there would have been more total fluid in it.
Either way, with the unknown of how long it has been that way, I would assume that the potential for major problems is there?
