Is there supposed to be some sort of filter inside the carb? In the carb kit I put in it showed a few extra pieces and I just ignored that, but in some of the other threads I've looked at there's been some reference to a filter inside the carb? If that is correct, do I need that? Where would I get one?

Re: 68 3hp Carb Evinrude

There is no filter in the carburetor. Some old motors of different horsepower have a glass filter bowl with a sintered filter on the bottom of the carburetor. Does not apply to the 3hp.

The filter on a 1968 3hp is a fine screen behind the black plastic cover on the fuel pump. If you remove the filter cover, don't overtighten it when you reinstall it. Overtightening it causes it to crack.
