Great news!! (Gene Wilder voice):It's Alive!!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!
So I have started and ran my motor. Funny, when things are hooked up correctly, it works!!
My question now is for the "professional" shaders out there. The cable/steering hook-up is very close to the engine. When I raise the tilt for towing, etc, it strains the cable pullies the hte point where is starts to create a lot of tension on the rear sides of the boat. Loosening the wires results in hard steering. Is there a hinge type extension that I could install (or create) to allow the tilt to function properly?

How many springs are you using?

Currently one on each side. Spring is about 2.5/3" uncompressed. If I loosen maybe .5" of cable on each side, I can raise the motor, but springs are fully compressed and I can see the pully housings being stressed.

That was always the trouble with that set up. I've even seen guys put 2 springs on one side but the steering was really sloppy and probably dangerous.

Theres only a couple of things to consider. On some boats we were able to relocate the pulleys. On some there really wasnt a place to move them to. Some guys bought that half-tilt bar and just never tilted them up all the way. The other option is a push pull cable system.
