'68 Evin 18hp shear pin

The prop on my 68 evin 18hp has a shear pin set-up. The prop also has a brass bushing in the center. Do all props have the rubber bushing break away system or not. I'm having the prop freshened up at the prop shop and if mine had the rubber bushing, I thought it would be a good time to replace it.<br /><br />Thanks for the help

Yes, all Johnson/Evinrude engines had rubber hubs since at least the 50s. That's theoretically not a shear pin - they called it a "drive pin" :) <br /><br />I really don't think hub replacement is a common preventative maintanance item. I have lots of props older than that outboard which are fine. I think they're really only lost if you strike bottom a few times with it, so it's one of those "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" items. The prop experts will know for sure though. :)
