68-ish 3.5HP Chrysler - High Speed Adjustment problem

Hello, all! I recently purchased a Chrysler 3.5hp 2t motor. It is missing the carb cover, which isn’t a big deal – I can make a crude one fairly easily. The problem is that the “High Speed Adjustment” knob had been turned all the way out, so I don’t know how many turns to put it back. The manual I found said that the initial tuning setting as 1 and 1/8 turns out for the 6 to 9.2 hp models. Should I start there?

From what I can tell, the lever moves clockwise from “Start” at the left, to “Run” pointing straight-up and another one to the right, which I couldn’t make out. What’s this position for?

What are the approximate positions that I should place my lever stops on the cover at? 9, 12 and 3 o'clock? Or, more like 10, 12, and 2?

Thanks for your time! This is my first outboard and I'm excited to get the kids out on the lake with it. We're wanting to power our Intex Mariner 4 with it.

Probably the start position on the other mark.
Yes set at 1 1/2 turn out and adjust in the water.
The low speed air/fuel also adjust in the water.

There might not have been a carb cover??

No carb cover on these and the lever about middle from stop and run is START position.
