hey everyone,

i just got it running the other day in a 55 gallon platic drum and did'nt see any water being pumped out from the engine cooling line.

my cousin said that the engine might have a thermostat that opens when the engine comes up to operating temp., (in which i didn't reach, only ran for about 10 sec). he also said the thermostat helps prevent 'cold sarts' by having cold water in the block to start with.

does this sound about right?

i also plan to put in a new impellor now that i know the engine is good, just to be sure.

thanks!

The thermostat is in the top of the cylinder head, under a cover held on by 3 screws.

Cold start? Heck it is always cold when you first start it up. The 'stat ensures that it warms up to normal, desired operating temperature.
