68 johnson smoking..

Hey guys..<br /> I just fired up an old 68 johnson today. On low idle, it seems just fine, but when i rev it up, it smokes like crazy.. I mixed the fuel 50 to 1, (maybe 1 extra oz by mistake) but is that enough to make it smoke that much? also, how hot should the water from the "pee hole" be?.. on low idle it's very warm.. not scalding, but hot. On rev, it seems to cool down. Im a newbie, so i need to ask this stuff.. Thanx

oh.. forgot to mention, it's been sitting for 3 plus years, i did spray a small amount of wd40 in the cylander when i changed the plugs for the rings sake, but i ran it for a good 30 mins in the barrel today.

blue smoke.. Now that i hear that, kinda sounds like fuel? maybe?

I wouldn't worry about the blue smoke just yet. That indicates you have plenty of oil in the fuel and it will not harm the motor. I would replace the water pump and change the gear oil before I did anything else.

All carbed 2 strokes smoke like a factory in a barrel. On the water they spread it out over many yards of wake and you don't notice it as much.<br /><br />SoLittle gives good advice.<br /><br />Good luck.
