I recently lost a poker game and ended up with a 68 Tolley craft The gel coat is pretty bad chipped And somebody started filling them with bondo and Repainting over Using total boat wet edge polyurethane one part The question is should I continue this where they left off or should I go a completely different route

Bondo is talc based and while it could be used on interior cabin, do not use it on the hull.

Use proper fairing compound.

However a 55 year old boat may need more than cosmetic work

Survey said the transum is solid as a rock And the stringers were hollow fiberglass so those were good

Then dig out the Bondo, take some resin/microspheres/cabosil and mix up some marine fairing, or buy pre-mixed.

I would roll on gel, then 2 layers of barrier coat and 4 layers of ablative bottom paint
