6hp Johnson model and year

I am in need of finding the model and year of my 6hp Johnson. The tag on the transom bracket is unreadable but I have the serial number on the block. That number is J306106.

Something wrong here. That serial number is listed as 1938. Take another look, you must have missed a digit.

look for a round disk, quarter size, should have numbers on it.

The numbers I have given are from the freeze plug on the side of the motor as you have described

Sorry, my list only goes up through 1961 which is 2,105,658 - 2,249,094. I just looked at a 1984 5,924,582 So it's somewhere in between but where?
