Hi the drive shaft appear stuck in the bottom of the powerhead. i have removed all bolt (5) and disconnected the shift rod. the lower pulled down 5/8 of an inch and stopped. I think I need to rebuild the lower or get a new one, it's stuck in fwd gear. Can i use wedges to pull the drive shaft from the lower case. will the water pump housing break and the woodruff key pull through. Any one have any experience with this type of situation. thanks...

Hi, i got it off. I turned it upside down and spray the drive shaft good with mystery oil and let it set 2 days. I then used soft pine wedges driven from opposing sides and it popped loose. the only damage was to the water pump liner where the key put a small dent. I removed the liner and knocked the dent flat. All is good.
