7.4 454 mag, no power under load

Have a 454 mag, changed wires and plugs and when I put it in the water for the first time this year everything seemed fine until I put a load on it. Engine will max out at about 2000 rpm, ran great last year.

Checked wire order a couple times, timing is ok.

Any ideas, thanks for the help?

Need more info. Carb, EFI or MPI. If it has a carb, the jets could be plugged. Bad gas. Bad coil. Just a few thoughts.

It has a Carb. I changed the cap, rooter, plugs, and wires.

Wire order is fine and timing is fine.

I am testing the compression later tonight and will check the gas later too, can?t see where that went bad over the winter but have heard crazier things happen.
