was running very good , starter starting going out and today it died out of no where and then wentto go start it it sounded like it was just free spinning. so put new starter in, fired right up, budddy drove to island and it died again he said and now the voltage was to low to crank it over. so i got new starter battery and another battery, put them in and now it just cranks and like it asint getting fuel or maybe water got in filter? earlier while driving if you have trim all the waay up it leaks little bit of water and he diddnt have bilge pump on, so its stuck at island and im gonna go back tomorrow and spray starting fluid and see if it will start, and check the fuel water Seperator filter, if any body has any ideas please i will be forever gratefull!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... When you pull the fuel filter, dump it into a clear container to see the crap in it,.....

If the boat leaks when the drive is full up,...
The odds are the drive bellows is ripped,....

Which 7.4 MPI, have a serial number?

Assuming this is the same motor that was overheating after ingesting sand?

yeah, lol so apaerently staarter went out , then the gasket that keeeps water out of hull when trim is uup got a slit in it so my buddy was taking on water and didnt have bilbge pump on and so it took on a bunch of water, got the water out, but now i replaced starter and batterys and fuel filter, it started ruight up and then just dies like its getting starved. got it started again drove it around and it drove weird and sounded little diffenert kinda sluggish and then dies again.

Still need the serial number or at least tell us if it has a VST or cool fuel?

What is the fuel pressure at the rail?

It sound different, might have injected water and would be good to check compression

Being a 98 it should be cool fuel. The fuel pump should be under the port side motor mount next to oil pan.

yes i believe it is yup. so i got it started and it sounded liekit was idling just normal but i took off and it didnt seem to wanna give me full power , drove sluggish, one of the prop was bent so i thought that was issue, pulledit back out of water and bent prop back into place and put it back in water and sent him along his way and he caleld hour laer said it died on him again

There is no way any of us can figure out what's wrong without someone actually testing and providing accurate info. Statements like

"sluggish, bent prop, fixed prop, " is not working
Bent prop back into position, how was that done and balanced so it wouldn't effect the dive from vibration?

Need fuel pressure readings, timing,
