What is the temperature of the Engine suppose to be at? My engine sits at about 170. When I flushed my engine, recently its been steaming, which seems to be too warm. I may need to re tighten the water pump as I had issues on the tension with it recently. I might need a slightly smaller belt.

Also, My lower unit was very warm to the touch when i was flushing the engine. What temp should the Lower unit be after riding the engine all day?

Ayuh,...... 170? ain't outa line, if yer runnin' a 160? t-stat,.....

Runnin' hard, on-plane, for a fair distance, I'd expect the drives temp to be approachin' 180?,....
It'd cool considerably when ya drop off plane, through case contact with the water,....
I'd expect it to be warm to touch, by the time ya make the dock or on the wagon,....

your exhaust is going to steam. that whole water mixed with hot exhaust thing is going to make water vapor
