Hey all, boat is a 1996 SeaSport Explorer 2400. Has a 7.4GL with a Duoprop. New to me boat and ran fine for the first 2 days. Finished fishing for springs this morning, went to chase hali and 5 mins after being on step the boat overheated... bad to worse was that the temp guage was stuck at 140 until I hit the dash and it jumped to 240... fml
not sure if the engine is smoked yet, but want to make sure I have an engine lined up to go back in. Is there a way to tell what version of chevy 454 Volvo Penta and seasport used? 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains, 1 piece or two piece rear main seal, peanut port heads etc. Will the manifolds fit any of the 454 heads? Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond.

Being a 96 model it should be 1 piece rear main seal. Get the casting numbers of the block and heads and they can be looked up. Heads are under valve cover and block is top rear deck on port side.
