You may find help at the at aomci.org.
But speaking generically these motors are pretty simple.
Open the vent on the tank cap.Open the gas shut off usually on the side of the motor.Set the spark lever at start set the choke.Usually a push pull knob
on the front of the motor.
Pull the start rope.If in good shape these old motors will start in a couple of pulls. When it starts turn off the choke. You may have to feather the choke for a few seconds but usually can turn off quickly.
Try to be sure it is pumping water usually mists or flows out relief holes in the leg.
It is usually reccomended to change the impeller(pump) on any motor you don't
know the history on.
At least be aware of water flow and any labored slowing of the motor could be an over heat.Imeadiatly shut down if you suspect an over heat.Premature death of an outboard usually comes from improper fuel mix or an over heat.
Don't mean to scare you just trying to help you be aware.
Enjoy.
