Should this be seated at the flange or is it ok sticking out this far? Motor runs good for a time then dies. Was hoping something simple...and can I adjust the linkage somewhere...it won't go into N. F an R shift fine, but N is right in the middle and the prop still turns just like in F

It is okey sticking out a bit as long as the fuelhose will fit on the connector inside the cowl.

Running and stalling: Does it run when the choke is pulled out?
Does it keep running when the ball is pumped?
What year?
Sounds like a fuel pump or the carb needs to be cleaned.

Ok, thanks guys for all the help. It is a 1979 motor. I hooked everything back up and tried to start it up yesterday. I pumped the primer ball and noticed it didn't get very firm so I squeezed it about 3 more times and fuel came out of the quick disconnect. Replaced that piece and viola...it runs perfectly. Air was being sucked in.
