I have a 7 1/2 hp Johnson Seahorse Ser.# E5211944 , Mod. J8RCSS. Can you tell me the year? correct plugs? and why it runs so much better with the cover off?

Check what the cover does. If the air inlet doesn't work your motor breathes freely only when cover is off.<br />Does the cover touch anything when on? Leads, cables, wires, connections?
