I have a 460 king cobra in my boat and I'm trying to gather up the parts and info for a tune up. I already got the cap, rotor, points, condenser, and plug wires. My question is what plugs to run (and gap) and what to gap the points at?

The boat is about 30 min away and can't really look at the plugs that are in there. So I would like to pick up the parts before I go to the boat. Thanks in advance

Sorry it's a 1989 460 king cobra

Howdy,

You could use the plugs that OMC suggests........
From http://epc.brp.com 0912937 SPARK PLUG, RV12YC I am assuming that is a Champion part number. Some people don't like Champion plugs though.

Try this chart for substitution: http://www.dragstuff.com/techarticles/spark-plug-cross-reference.html

I don't remember the dwell or points gap. Maybe someone here will have a manual and can look it up for you

If you don't have an OMC service manual, you might consider obtaining one.

If you change your own drive oil, or you have a shop do it, ensure it's changed in accordance with the service manual....if it's done incorrectly, it can destroy the drive......and they aren't making any of them anymore.....

Regards,

Rick
