Will the carbs off of a 3 cylinder 75 HP improve the performance of a 70 HP motor? If not what's the difference in the 2. I bought a blown up 75 and wonder if there are any bolt ons from the 75 to improve the performance of a 70 I have that I'm hanging on a pontoon. The 75 is a 1979 and the 70 is a 1977 model.

The 75 threw a rod out through the side of the block. Could some failure of the carb have caused that? I wouldn't want to move the problem that killed the 75 to my 70.

to my knowledge your motor is specifically designed for the size carbs/jets you have in your 70..the best I know is by changing this it will not increase your HP and will probably cost you some fuel mileage. usually best to leave the motor as is unless you know everything that needs to be done to it to keep it balanced.
