70 evinrude bogging

i have a 70hp evinrude,i took it to the lake a day or so ago. it started good and idle good, i started up the lake it done good. i pushed it up to half throttle, it bogged down, so i shoved it to full throttle it took off like a jet. can someone give me some things to check, for the problem for the half throttle bogging, also it never did clear up it bogged down all day at half throttle...

thunder,<br /><br />More than likely, your carburetors are need of an overhaul.

As Joe mentioned. Get OEM (carb) kits from a reputable dealer.

my evinrude is a 1973 70hp model! i all ready had the carbe rebuild and its doing the same thing nothing is different.. eny more things i can check????????????

Thunder.... If the carburetors have been rebuilt correctly, nothing overlooked, check the timer base under the flywheel to make sure it's not sticking.<br /><br />The timer base should move smoothly through out its range from idle to its full spark advance range, up against the rubber stop of the spark advance screw, when throttle is applied. Sticking would result in a momentary retarded spark setting.<br /><br />Also the "cam" that glides against the carburetor roller has a scribe mark on it. The throttle butterflies should just start to open when that scribe mark is dead center with the roller. If the throttle butterflies start to open before that, the engine will have a tendency to die out.
