I have a '89 70hp Evinrude on a '77 Cruise boat center console. Doesn't have an rpm gage....the old prop is getting a little bit chewed up, it has no #'s on it that can find, but I'm thinking of putting a new 13 1/4 x 17 aluminum on. is that ok? thanks

Re: 70 hp evinrude prop?

Hi Ken

Without knowing the wide open throttle RPM's, it's next to impossible to say for sure if that would be the correct pitch prop for your boat. It's also hard to recommend without knowing the length or type of boat you're working with. The best thing I could advise would be to take your prop to a prop shop and they will know what size it is. If it performed well in the past, then stick with the same pitch. The wisest thing to do, would be to get a Tach. installed so there is no guessing...
