Hello,
I've read with great concern the issues related to the VRO. I just bought a used boat and now I'm paranoid. I want to disconnect this bugger and have read differing replies on where to disconnect. Do I just plug the oil inlet in the oil reservoir? I read where someone said to cut the line and plug it near the motor?

Please clarify.

Thanks!

Re: 70 HP Evinrude-VRO Question

It really is motor specific, depends mostly on what year i beleive as different wiring was used. On my 84 v-4 90 hp it was simple. Just pull the tank and put a vacuum cap over the nipple @ the fuel pump. Mine had no other wiring except 12v and grd for the pump unit in the oil tank so i just clipped those and taped them up good. If you do this and a warning buzzer goes off then you need to do a search here to find out how to trace the wires to disconnect. This subject has been covered quite a bit over the years. Gotta be all the info you need in here somewhere just be patient and do your research!!
