I recently purchased a 94' spectrum dominator 17 with a Force by Mercury engine. After starting the engine it takes probably 2-3 seconds for water to come out of the weep hole. The engine runs fine but after bringing the boat home and parking it, I discovered a puddle of black watery fluid that smells like oil. It is running out of the bottom of the cowling on the back of motor and running down to drip. I'm kind of new to boating and after reading some other articles on here , I was wondering if it might be a bad gasket somewhere or could it be oil from fogging last year for winterization? I still have a lot to learn about boat engines so any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome.
The Yukky Black stuff. Is probably just unburned gas/ oil and last years fogging oil.
Some people use way more than needed..
Remove the drain plug and see what's in the lower unit.
