70 hp Johnson decarb

I preformed a decarb to my motor yesterday, Sat Nov 20. I followed the decarb procedure on the sticky thread but was not able to take it out on the water to run it at full throttle. I did everything else with the muffs on. I wanted to take her out today to completely finish the gallon of fuel mixed with the sea-foam on the water at full throttle, but I could not get a chance to do it. With the 3 day work week and the holidays coming up i don't know exactly when I'll be able to take her out, I'm guessing another week or so.

My question is, will the mix of fuel and sea-foam sill in the carbs, tank, and engine damage any components if left there too long?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help.

I doubt it. I always use seafoam in my fuel, never heard of a problem from it.

Won't hurt anything, as a matter of fact it may work even better since it can soak in.

Sea Foam is a petroleum based product so it really isn't much different than having gas in there.

No worries.

When you take it to the lake, it will smoke a bit for a while. Run it at WOT for 10 min or so. Keep the recommended amout of seafoam in your fuel year-round. Its a great fuel stablizer also.

Seening it's been setting with the decarb in it, before you run it at WOT let it idle for about 15 mins at maybe 1500 rpm and then take it out and run the hell out of it. Letting it idle gets some lube back into the cyls that was probably cleaned away by the de-carb.

thank all you guys for the help.

now i be at ease knowing that it will not damage anything, in fact it will probably clean it out more.

i will let her idle for a while to make sure she gets some lube back in there before running her hard.

There's absolutely no reason for you to run that engine ar WOT, because seafoam melts the solid carbon [ in the cylinders & behind the rings ] into a liquid & it gets blown out your exhaust as a liquid, not solid, so do not run the heck out of it.
Seafoam is also a fuel stabilizer & will help in keeping your octane up when the boat sits idle for a few months.
I've left straight Seafoam or Bombardiers "Engine Tuner" in my engines for over a week & feel it does better the longer you leave it.
I think the manufacturers of those de-carb solutions feel people wont use it if you tell them to leave it longer, because most everyone wants instant gratification & doesn't want to wait for anything.
If you think about it, leaving it in longer allows it to penitrate behind the rings & melt any hardened carbon that's between the cylinder & rings.
When you start it after the treatment, keep your fingers on the key switch, because some times they want to really over rev at first start-up after the treatment.
Your engine is going to smoke like a house on fire for 5 or 10 minutes at idle, so be prepared for your neighbors to call the fire dept,...[ seriously ].
Just know there's no reason for you to run that engine over 1500 rpms, & than run it as you normally would.

Did you ever mistakenly pick up a can of BRP engine tuner in the fall of the year and and use it for fogging oil. When you pull the mtr out of storage in the spring you get a nice surprise.
