Greetings

Someone on the Arima board pointed me here so I am a newbie.

Have a 16 foot Arima with a 70 HP merc 2 stroke the last time out the engine ran great but mt kicker rope broke so I used the 70 to troll with (seemed to work fine and at the end of the day took us home with no issues)

Went out Chinook fishing yesterdat and the 70 did not wat to give full power tach would swing wildly and it would die. At idle it would run sputter die.

So this time the kicker saved me for fishing.

When I got home I pulled the plugs. #1 was almost sand blast looking while 2 and three looked fine.

The engine has 150 lbs of compression in each hole.

The boat is well maintained.

Any ideas before I take it in??? Would the trolling do it??

Should I replace the plug and try again??

Thanks much
Paul

Sounds to me your getting water into the cylinder. With that said, It could be a defective gasket or corrosion has eatin thru the metal. Time to pop off some covers and have a look see.

Trolling did not do this.
