I am new here.. My name is Mike.

I have never owned a boat, but I am pretty mechanically inclined. Tried to start, new battery, starter and ignition switch. No spark.. ugh.. anyone have any ideas? I have a belt driven distributor.., "black box" and coil. any ideas? I dont really know what I am doing. I believe the motor is a 1979.

THANKS!

IF you have points ensure they are clean/gapped to .014". If it is electronic (no points under the distributor cap) make sure your rotor is making good contact with the interior cap terminals and everything is clean. Check to ensure that ALL of your wiring is solid and has good connections, especially the grounds on the CDI box & coil. Don't be too quick to judge your CDI box as bad until you know all of the connections are good and solid. Good luck...
