70hp Johnson 1998

Hello ALL :D
Just joined the forum
My question to the people in the know ;)
I am looking at buying a 1998 70HP JOHNSON motor
I req some details good or bad about the motors
Do they still run VRO on the 98 model :confused:
If so have they fixed the problems with them

i believe the 1998 has the Vro 2 or the OMS pump, the OMS pump is fine. the 70 hp motor is the work horse for the size. it delivers more HP per weight than almost any other motor.

If you are uncomfortable, using the oil mixing pumps, they are very easy to convert, to the premix system, still using the existing pump.

leave the "auto oil" system in place, it works fine, and those Motors are very simple and reliable, as long as the usual check turn out OK, then go for it!
