70hp Johnson Idle

I have a 1994 70hp Johnson. The idle seems to be set too high. It jumps when you put it in gear. the tach reads 1100 to 1200 rpm in idle. It also kills easy when you put it in gear. The engine runs strong above idle speed.<br /><br />Any ideas on where to start?<br /><br />What is a good shop manual for Johnsons?<br /><br />What is the maximum rpm for this motor?<br /><br />TIA<br />John

Ahoy, JohnT.<br /><br />Clymers manual is good. #B736<br /><br />Sounds like you need to do the idle and linkage synchronization adjustments.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB
