Hi Roger,

the #433540 comes from a 1989/90 60SST model. I found a part list:

The pistons inside are the same and the block really looks the same as the 1989 60/70hp EL/TL engine. It already has the tell tale modification (tee moved from exhaust cover to engine top). But the thermostat seems to be missing. There are no parts behind the thermostat cover.

I can't find the number here on IBoats the 90 shows 0397737 and the 89 shows 0433540??????

That's a 56 cid powerhead which is what you need. Ask for a crank spline count and compare to yours.

My engine is still in one piece and running {to use the word running loosely} so I have no way of knowing it's spline count.

Faztbullet, any idea what it is?

If yours is truly a 1989 it a fine spline as they changed in 1988.....

It is on its way, hope the sucker fits!!!
Should I try to do the work myself or take it to the local marine mech.?????? How difficult is it?
