I have a 1970 35 HP Chrysler which should be basically the same as your 45 except for Piston?s bore and stroke. The carb adjustment is so simple that the problem is usually someplace else. What are your symptoms as problems and when did they start?
Plus, give some history of the unit. Such as: Fire, Fuel and Compression have all checked out to be good.
1. Fire is a good blue spark?
2. Fuel is treated for ethanol or stored dry?
3. Compression, checked out at least 100 PSI in both cylinders and not over 10 PSI apart.
Since my 1984 purchase, the problem came from checking my points and adding too much oil to the oil wics. When the engine showed as sluggish or hesitating the points were dirty. The oil vapor on the ignition system finally got my attention. Initially I felt a crankcase seal was bad. W/O adding oil to the wics. A hard 10 mi run showed my oil in the wicks caused the vapor to affect my points. No problems since with less oil.
