I found a guy that wants to sell his 1970s 12 ' aluminum boat.
It's in good shape, or so he says.
I am concerned about weight as I will have to rig it to the top of my van. If it's too heavy I will have to get a trailer.
Can anyone tell me what a 12' aluminum Gamefisher weighed back when.
I remember seeing them in Sears and on lakes at the time and thought they were pretty lightweight.
Also, it has a 17 lb thrust Min Kota motor with it. Is that enough for a small lake?
This boat may be ideal for my little local 15 acre lake I like to fish at.
Here is a pix of it and he only wants $250 for it.

Re: 70s Sears Gamefisher Boat weight

Ken,

Looks just like the 12' Sears boat I sold last year. I used to carry it to the water's edge on my shoulder for launching. I would estimate the weight to be less than 100#. unless the foam under the seats is water logged - then it could weigh twice that. We powered it with oars and/or an 8 hp Nissan outboard (~24 mph). It was a great boat that we owned for more than 20 years. In the winter we stored it upside down and the interior stayed pristine.

We got $300 for ours without the trolling motor so you got a deal. It has a 48" beam and fits into station waggons and PU truck beds.

Using one of these will make it a lot easier. I have one I used with my Coleman Crawdad. Made the job a LOT easier. You can load the boat by yourself.
