I'm trying to test the ignition coil on my '71 60hp 3 cyl with an ohmmeter and want to make sure I'm testing at the correct places before condemming the coil.
I tested across the screw terminal on the coil that has the wire comming to it from terminal 9 on the buss bar to ground for a primary resistance reading and got a reading of 1.2 ohm .
and tested from that screw terminal to the center post of the coil for the secondary resistance, and got a reading of 257 ohms.

The factory manual shows a spec of 1.2 ohms max for the primary resistance and 3000 ohms max for the secondary.
Am I testing this properly , and is 257 ohms too low ( the manual only gives a max resistance spec)?
Does this coil sound good or bad?

I went to check the coil as I'm trying to chase down a mid throttle intermittant mis,and when I pulled the plugs today ( after about 1 1/2 hours on the lake the other day, and a few sessions in the test tank before that setting carbs) the plugs were all a bit wet ( plugs are all new right before the tank session).

Any other things that I should be checking for the wet plug problem?

Thanks-------Robert
