I have been trying to get a 71 60hp running. I have run across a 72 50hp that supposedly runs.

My 71 has the hydro-electric shift with the toggle switch. The 72 has the push button switches for F-N-R. Is the 72 also hydro-electric and would my 71 controls work with the 73?

Are the lower units interchangeable?

Looking like the amp is shot on the 71 and I can get the 72 for $300. Thinking it may be cheaper to get the 72 and use the 71 as a parts motor if parts are interchangeable.

The 71, 60 is a 3 cylinder. The 73, 50 is a 2 cylinder. 1972 was the last of the hydro-electric's. I would not take that 73, 50 as a gift. They were not exactly the last word in longevity.
