Got a '71 125HP Johnson and wanted to add power tilt\trim. I've seen and priced aftermarket units. I also saw some factory units removed from motors that are complete from the transom mounts to steering section. Bolt holes to the motor appear to be the same. Would it be possible to disconnect the motor steering section and mount the other. I know I'll have to do some wiring.
The boat is freebie, but alot of work. 1970 Glastron Swinger 176. Needs floor, stringers, and transom replaced, but from I read on the forum, I believe it is doable. Don't know why, but really like the lines of this boat.
Thanks for any help y'all can give.

Unfortunately, OMC did not make any trim or tilt mechanisms that model year. You can verify this by looking at the original factory exploded parts diagram at the website: epc.brp.com. When you open this site up, look for the section heading called "outboard accessories". If you go in there you will see there is no section labeled for 1971. So it was not available. You and snoop through the 1972 "outboard accessories" and look under the electrical section. You will find the 1972 power trim units listed there. I am not at all sure any of the 1972 units can be retrofitted to 1971.
