I have a 71 mecury outboard 650 65hp that I can not get started. When the boat was running it ran great. Now that it sat for a month nothing? It has good spark at the plugs and rolls over very good.I disconnected the fuel lines before and after the fuel pump and sqeezed the primer and fuel was comming out good. The only thing I noticed is that with everything connected and trying to start, when I prime the primer it would not firm up and if it did it got soft right away.Should it stay firm or not?If I disconnect the line from the quick disconect from the motor and try to prime it it is very firm so I would think that maybe its just not holding a prime.<br /> Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you have a needle not seating in one of your carbs. Or a bad check valve in the fuel pump.
