'71 Sea Ray SRV-200

I am new to forum and this boat. I need help with the steering cable...How do I get the ball off where cable goes through the transom and where do I get a new cable..I believe it's a rack system. Thanks, keninch

No one will be able to comment on how you get the cable out without knowing what engine/leg combo you have. Merc? Volvo? OMC? Outboard? I/O? it should say on it somewhere. Posting a picture of what you see may help too.<br /><br /> Steering cables <br /><br />hth

As I am new to forums, how do I post a picture? The engine is a V-8 with an OMC outdrive, the cable sheath is damaged right as it goes through the transom. Thanks

Usually a picture is on a web site, your personal site maybe? Then you use the URL or IMAGE button below. Other than that I don't know.<br /><br />As far as I know the whole steering cable assembly is replaced as a unit.<br /><br />If you don't have a shop manual for your boat get one. It will explain many of the repair and maintenance procedures.<br /><br />Other than trying Teleflex and asking them I'm unable to help you further. sorry.<br />Maybe someone else will know.
