I'm trying to remove the powerhead on my 115, I've got all the cables, wires, and mounting bolts off. I'm ready to lift but don't have the special eye bolt. Any advice?

Re: 72 1150 powerhead

sure, I used a piece of steel plumbers strap. I enlarged the holes to accept a 5/16" bolt. Next I bolted it to two of the 5/16" bolts that ring the flywheel nut, and used a block and tackle to lift the powerhead. The end of the B&T was attached to a 1/2" lag bolt in the garage door header. The powerhead is only about 90# or so, but is hard to break loose from the gaskets on the midsection.

BTW- remove the gearcase first. You will want to reinstall the gearcase last, so you do not mess up the crank splines.

Thank you, I already have the gear case off for a re seal. Do you know a place to get parts for this motor cheap? I need a seal kit, upper mounts, and a wiring harness.

Do a google search on the OEM Part numbers. The Surplusunlimited web site should have a decent price for a motor harness.

When I changed powerheads on my tower, I just used a nylon strap from the "Handles" on the belly pan (both in back and front) to the lifting chain. Worked great.
